You've got Friends...

We have received a couple of requests to extend the closing date for the Collection pre-sales until after the first of the month.  So that's exactly what we are going to do.  We bought some extra time from the Shadow Man.  (I hope that doesn't come back to haunt us).

Pre-sale orders received by Saturday, August 3, 2024, will be shipped in time for you to receive it before the event.  Those who order the entire collection will still be eligible for free shipping and the upgrade.

Pre-sales will still remain open until Monday, August 11, however, we cannot guaranty delivery prior to the Knit Dizzney event in September.  At that time, we will post the links where you can find the items on Lazer Sheep Yarns', Dragonfish Handmade Goods', and Dizzy Blonde Studios' webpages.

Blue Skies and Sunshine

In a previous post we made you aware that the BFF Notions Clutch was made from 85% upcycled materials, which not only helps to reduce waste, but also helps to reduce the amount of new fabric being manufactured, doubling the positive impact on our environment.  Now, both Dizzy Blonde Studios and Lazer Sheeps Yarns has been influenced by DragonFish Handmade Goods' environmental practices.  Both indy dyers are using solar power to set their dyes by taking advantage of the hot California and Florida sun.

Dizzy Blonde Studios uses large disposable aluminum catering pans with lids.  The only time we "dispose" of them is when they've been reused so often they spring a leak.  Then it's into the recycling bin!  We leave them out for most of the day, which means we need to chase the sun and move the pans around the yard.  

Not only do we get a few extra steps in, we get a little extra dose of Vitamin D from being in the sun.  As Charlie Sheen would say...:WINNING!"

Lazer Sheep Yarns takes a little different approach, using restaurant-grade catering pans and a heavy-duty black trash bag to retain the heat.

And as you can see, the EPA Inspector/QA manager approves!

Additionally, both dyers conserve water by carefully planning out the order of dyeing for the day into color groups from lightest to darkest in order to used just one draw of water for the entire day of dyeing.  Every conservation effort, no matter how small, makes a positive impact on our environment, helping to preserve our planet for future generations.

Dig a Little Deeper

One of the things we love about Disney's Princess and the Frog is the friendship between Charlotte LaBouff and Tiana Carter.  Considering that the tale is set in New Orleans in the 1920s, and that there is definitely class distinctions between the 2, both Tiana and Lottie never allowed that to come between them and their eternal bonds of friendship.  For this year's Knit Dizzney we are also celebrating the amazing friendships that we have found within our fiber community. Which brings us to the final item in this year's collection:

Dragonfish Handmade Goods has really knocked this one out of the park!  The BFF Notions Clutch features custom themed fabric on one side, and upcycled, embroidered high-end drapery fabric on the other.  The clutch has a zipper closure, and the interior lining and removeable wrist handle are made from upcycled bed sheeting.  That's 85% upcycled materials in this bag!

This is no tiny notions clutch.  Measuring approximately 8" across by 6 1/2" tall, this clutch is large enough to hold all of your WIP accessories,  as well as your cell phone!
